Chill Autumn morning –

Night’s rainfall has left its mark ~

Jewelled surprises.

Big gardening day –

Pittosporum chopped right down ~

Blinding autumn light.

Warm for October –

Outside with beer and papers ~

And one butterfly.

The last dahlias –

Some heads bent with their own weight ~

Hold mine high for them.

Autumn gardening –

Finish potting alliums ~

Robin stalks for me.

Green watering can –

Half full so put a stick in ~

For Bonbon the mouse.

Sunny and windy –

What we call ‘Odin weather’ ~

Sheltered nerines sway.

Picking blackberries –

Before PĂșca gets them all ~

Some already slimed.

Japanese Bindweed –

Beating the briars for light ~

Busy bees approve.

Deadheading lilies –

Leaves left as fuel for next year ~

Still taller than me.
