Love the pacing of this poem. It matches the dogfight mentioned.
Right from the first three lines, many of these stanzas were so perfect, they gave me goose bumps. I think becuase they touch, very simply, on truth – they’re so honest, so this-is-how-it-was, really was. The ending was masterful. I really enjoyed the haiku style, with each stanza titled. Wonderful!
lovely little gems, enjoyed all of them

🙂
Oh these are fantastic! Portrait was my favorite.
Portrait is a succinct closing. Groups of haiku that tell a story is a fruitful approach to this old method. Well achieved, I thought.
your “worthy it” haiku is divine.
smiles.
welcome sharing 1 to 3 random poems with us today, best.
When I started reading on-line poetry a while back I didn’t much care for haikus… I basically didn’t understand them, and – even though I’ve got my head around them more these days – I still find them a bit… Short? Incomplete? This structure, you building up a whole row of them around the same theme, I liked! As well as the poems themselves, of course.
You did it Duncan!
I am so amazed by you
And your wonderful haiku!
